Matthew Bessette, M.D.

Dr. Matthew Bessette is an Orthopaedic Surgeon who grew up in the Rochester area and is an alumnus of Pittsford Mendon High School. He graduated from college at the University of Pennsylvania with a major in chemistry and a minor in economics and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He attended medical school at the University of Virginia where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center and a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Bessette’s special interests include arthroscopic surgery of the hip, knee, and shoulder as well as ligament and tendon repairs and reconstructions. He also specializes in joint replacement surgery of the hip, knee, and shoulder, including direct anterior approach hip replacement. He enjoys repairing fractured and broken bones.

Dr. Bessette believes that it is important to get to know his patients and makes sure that they have the time to attain a clear understanding of their injuries, conditions, and treatment options before proceeding with surgery.

Outside of the office and operating room, Dr. Bessette enjoys spending time with his wife and young children. He continues to enjoy playing ice hockey and outdoor grilling.
